To mark two decades of working with the region’s nonprofit community, MCIC will host the MCIC 20th Anniversary and Data Innovation Awards Reception honoring the rising stars and emerging leaders of open data in Chicago. To learn more about the goings-on of Chicago’s innovators and to help choose the MCIC Project Prize winner, join us on September 15th.

Data Innovation Awards

The inaugural year of the Data Innovation Awards is an opportunity for us to celebrate organizations that demonstrate the MCIC core values. The three award winners exemplify the pursuit of actionable knowledge and contribution to quality of life through power and reach.

Winners have been chosen by a panel of guest judges representing thought leaders in open data and the nonprofit community:

  • John Tolva, Citizenship & Technology Director, IBM
  • Dan Lyne, Director of Business Development, World Business Chicago
  • Kara Kennedy, Executive Director, Lumity
  • Sharon Burns, Chief Information Officer, MacArthur Foundation
  • Adrian Holovaty, Founder, Everyblock

This year’s Data Innovation Award winners are:

  • Center for Neighborhood Technology
  • Chicago Climate Action Plan
  • Chicago Transit API

MCIC Project Prize

MCIC will also present one nonprofit organization with the 2010 MCIC Project Prize service grant of $3,000. MCIC has selected three finalists to be featured at the Awards Reception on September 15th. Attendees at the event will vote for the organization they feel is most deserving of the MCIC Project Prize, based on the information presented there by the finalists.

The 2010 Project Prize finalists are:

  • LUCHA
  • Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center
  • Resource Center
